Purpose
Zammer supports responsible, consent-based messaging. This policy describes our core principles for how merchants may use the Zammer platform to send SMS and RCS messages.
Our Messaging Principles
Consent Required
- Merchants may send messages only to recipients who have explicitly opted in.
- Opt-in must be collected through clear disclosure at checkout or via another verifiable method.
Opt-In Types and Rules
Zammer supports three distinct messaging use cases, each with its own opt-in requirements:
- Transactional (Checkout): The consumer provides their phone number at checkout. Messages are limited to order confirmations, shipping updates, and purchase-related notifications. No promotional content may be included.
- Marketing (Checkout opt-in): The consumer explicitly opts in to receive marketing messages via a checkbox at checkout. A CTIA-compliant confirmation message must be delivered before any marketing content is sent. Merchants may then send promotional offers and campaigns.
- Conversational (Website Widget): The consumer submits their phone number via a chat widget on the merchant's storefront. Zammer sends a double opt-in confirmation with Yes/No buttons. The thread is only created upon explicit confirmation. Merchant responses must be relevant to the consumer's inquiry. Marketing content may not be sent into this thread unless the consumer holds a separate marketing opt-in.
Transparency and Identification
- All messages must clearly identify the sending merchant or brand.
- Recipients must always know who is contacting them.
Opt-Out and Support
- Every message must include simple opt-out instructions.
- Recipients can reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for assistance.
- Opt-out requests must be honored immediately.
Cross-Thread Suppression
A consumer who replies STOP in any thread is suppressed across all active conversation threads with that merchant, regardless of which opt-in path was used. Suppression is applied immediately and is keyed on merchant + phone number. Merchants may not attempt to re-engage a suppressed number through an alternate thread.
Prohibited Content
Zammer strictly prohibits messages that contain or promote:
- Spam or unsolicited content
- Fraudulent or deceptive claims
- Illegal or regulated substances
- Hate speech, violence, or harassment
- Adult or sexually explicit material
- Malware, phishing, or malicious links
Compliance Standards
Merchants using Zammer must comply with all applicable laws and carrier rules, including:
- CTIA Messaging Principles and Best Practices
- Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)
- GDPR and local privacy regulations
Enforcement
Zammer may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy. Serious or repeated violations may be reported to carriers or authorities.
